The Logitech G Cloud Is A Curious Way To Play Xbox Cloud Games For The Cost Of A Steam Deck

Logitech G Cloud

The Logitech G Cloud just got an official reveal and the handheld console might look a lot like the Switch but this cloud first handheld is an entirely different league.

If you’re not really enamored by the Steam Deck and want something a bit closer to the Xbox Series X, then maybe it’s time to consider the latest from Logitech. The brand that would normally be putting mice on the shelves is set to release a handheld gaming device in North America on 17th October priced at $299.99. When that makes its way across the pond, we can probably expect it to match the cost of a base Steam Deck in both the US and Europe.

For that outlay, gamers are going to get an Android powered handheld that offloads most of the processing to the cloud. Microsoft has confirmed support for the device, meaning that it will be fully compatible with the Xbox Cloud Gaming system, allowing gamers without a beefy desktop or gaming library to access and play anything in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription pack. That is a huge range of top tier and indie games.

In addition, the Switch sized console is able to stream games from your own Xbox and will play nice with GeForce Now. As an Android device, this should also give gamers admission to Android versions of games like Genshin Impact, Torchlight Infinite, and the rest of the Google Play Store.

What’s got us a bit perplexed is the cost. For $299 players get

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G (SD720G) 8 X 2.3Ghz cores
  • Display: Resolution: 1920 x 1080 FHD (16:9 ratio)
  • Panel : IPS LCD
  • Display Size: 7″ diagonal
  • Fresh Rate:60 Hz
  • Touch Enabled: multi-touch

Connectivity:

  • WiFI: Dual-band Wi-Fi radio, 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11 ab/b/g/ac
  • Bluetooth: 5.1
  • USB: USB C
  • Expansion: TF Card
  • Audio: Bluetooth 5.1 with aptXTM, USB C, Aux 3.5, Stereo Speakers

This setup is by no means bad and should give anybody buying the Cloud G a great experience across ESO and onto Fortine. It is, however, a WiFi-enabled streaming platform. This means that it is either free to play Android games or an additional subscription and an internet connection. I’m yet to be entirely convinced this is the Xbox handheld we’ve been waiting for. However, if you’re looking to play Xbox. On the couch, while the TV is busy or want a handheld way to drop into a cloud desktop like Shadow then check out more at the official website now.
