Larian’s latest masterpiece in the making is rapidly approaching its launch that is scheduled for August 31st. Once the game is out, players will get the rare opportunity to revisit Baldur’s Gate – for the first time in 20 years. To not keep players waiting, the team also shared the first glimpse behind its walls and a look at the labyrinthine streets. Make sure your PC can handle the wonder!
“As a modern adaptation of an iconic fantasy setting, this city couldn’t be a mere backdrop. It needed to feel more like a complex organism: alive, changeable, and interconnected. Your journey, and your story, has been heading in this direction since the start of the game. You’ve finally arrived.”
Check out the trailer above to get a sense of the scale, with rolling vistas, boisterous docks, lively town center and more. According to developers, the districts of Baldur’s Gate are now three seamless open worlds. There’s plenty to discover, and to be distracted by, and nothing is off-limits.
However, the city is taken by its own turmoil. As Duke Rangard disappeared and left behind political power vacuum, new figure emerged. Enter Lord Enver Gortash, commander of a clockwork army of Steel Watchers. Surely nothing can go wrong with a politician raised by a devil? You will find out for yourself very soon.
As a part of this year’s PCGaming Show, Larian worked together with Mashed to create a fun little animated short you can find below. It features the original voice cast for BG3, the beloved companions from Early Access and their misadventures.
“Baldur’s Gate 3 is much, much bigger than we had envisioned when we started this journey roughly 5 years ago. Looking at what’s in Act 1 Early Access right now, it’s fair to say that you’ve really only seen a glimmer of the full experience to come. In July, you’ll begin to get a more complete look not just at how far Baldur’s Gate 3 has come, but where it’s been heading all these years in development. We know you’re really eager to hear about all the playable races & classes in the game. It’s coming.”
