Following the beginning of seasonal event Overwatch Archives 2020, the developers from Blizzard have taken to Twitter with a curious thing: an excerpt from the personal log of Dr. Mina Liao. The text mentions the doctor’s work on artificial life and the Athena prototype which makes the most likely candidate for the possible new hero Echo, the android showed off during McCree’s cinematic and later in Overwatch 2 intro CGI.

It has been about 7 months since a new hero joined the roster of Overwatch characters. It is likely that the developers’ focus is currently centered on Overwatch 2 revealed during BlizzCon 2019. Below you can find McCree’s Reunion cinematic and Overwatch 2 CGI Zero Hour both of which visit Echo, the most likely candidate to be a future hero:
