Ubisoft developers have published a new blog post on the Ghost Recon Breakpoint site to inform players about forthcoming changes to the companion AI system. The patch will be arriving sometime next week and will bring a new progression loop for Breakpoint‘s AI companions. With this addition, players will be able to level up companions and earn unique rewards and unlock challenges. According to the post, AI companions will level up in a similar manner to how player characters level up. They will also unlock tactical upgrades that will make them more effective in combat.
In addition to individual companion level-ups, players will also have a pair of common pools for Team Level and Team XP. With companions fighting alongside players, these bars will fill. There are 14 upgrades that can be unlocked along the way with three that are unique for each teammate. The best part is that players do not have to manage these level-ups and/or unique abilities. Companions will automatically start using these abilities as soon as they are unlocked.
While fighting to survive against ever-increasing odds, you’ve been gaining the experience necessary to boost your chances of survival. Now, your teammates will also benefit from these engagements and earn experience as well! Coming in Title Update 400, your teammates will have a Team Level, which will be measured with a common XP bar called Team XP. Gaining teammate XP is as simple as playing the game with your AI teammates active! But that’s not all: teammate XP can also be gained by playing and completing specific Teammate Missions when you perform actions that award XP such as kills, revives and sync shots.
