Fortnite Season 5 – Worlds Collide Teaser

Unless you have been living under a rock you have heard about a little game called Fortnite. Even if battle royale games aren’t your cup of tea, it’s pretty hard to ignore the hype that has built up around Epic Games’ free to play behemoth (players are still gladly parting with their hard earned cash to the tune of $300+ million a month). So, as many people speculate that the revenue stream is starting to level off, Epic Games is working the gaming community into a frenzy with the impending release of Season 5 tomorrow!

With less than 24 hours to go until the servers are taken off line for the Season 5 patch (4am EDT), gamers have been treated to the third (and final?) teaser image, which simply states the tag line WORLDS COLLIDE flanked on each side by dimensional rifts. This title has reinforced speculation that the Season 5 theme will be based off of several real world historical time periods.

Ever since the creation of a dimensional tear in the sky above the Fortnite map over the weekend, smaller rifts have been forming throughout the island, making minor changes to the map, and even spewing out relics from Earths own past. An anchor and a stagecoach found in game, along with the mask and Viking axe from the first two teasers, hint at things to come.

This all leads to everyone expecting widespread changes to the map (or my personal belief that extra dimensional pockets will be added) when the servers come back up for Season 5, along with a plethora of new skins, weapons, and bling to be gobbled up by the masses in the coming weeks. With all of Earth’s history to draw from, the options are endless, as will be the revenue generated. Of course, since Epic hasn’t officially said a word about all of this, we could be in store for something completely unexpected. In any event, we don’t have wait long to find out.
