Square Enix has just dropped a bonus episode of the ongoing The Creation of ‘FINAL FANTASY® XIV: Shadowbringers’ developer diaries. The latest edition of this series of behind the scenes videos focuses on the latest update to the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid and the return of the Nier series to Final Fantasy’s hit online adventure. This new episode explores how this crossover with the NieR series came to be, what inspired the design decisions in the first part of the raid and hints at what’s to come in the future. The bonus episode features interviews with:

  •  Naoki Yoshida – Producer and Director, FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

With the second chapter of the Dark Apocalypse story incoming, the developer diary gives fans an early glimpse of what’s to come. The upcoming 5.3 patch ahs seen some delay with the COVID-19 pandemic and we do not have an exact date for the release quite yet.

Alongside the Nier crossover events, and the new 24 man raid update, the 5.3 patch is set to bring a whole slew of big changes. A huge number of questlines are expected to be condensed or removed, streamlining the whole experience for new and existing players making their way through the game. This mainly impacts areas of the game between patch 2.0 and 2.5, from what we’re told. A new instanced encounter, dungeon, and tribe are due to hit the game as well as the usual bug fixes the incredible story twists too.

Anybody looking to get a look at the new developer diary can check it out above, or head over to the official Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers website for the full patch notes on this FInal Fantasy Nier crossover 5.3: Reflections in Crystal.
