Harry Potter Wizards Unite is the latest in a line of geolocation games aiming to bring a little magic to your daily commute. The geolocation-based game was announced back in 2017 and from initial descriptions, seems to follow a similar premise to Niantic’s other AR behemoth, Pokemon Go. Calling on wizards everywhere, the trailers for the game, which melds augmented reality with its geolocation systems, allows players to interact with a range of magical anomalies as they seep into the human world. As players explore their own neighborhood, and cities across the globe, they will go on extraordinary adventures, learn to cast spells, and unravel the mysteries of magic. From escaped Nimbus brooms to the odd wandering Niffler, it is likely we will see lots of familiar faces when Hary Potter Wizards Unite launches.
The latest game to play on the massive success of the Harry Potter film franchise is part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Portkey Games, a new studio dedicated to games based on J.K. Rowling’s creation.
