Holly Longdale Shares a Word on the Future of World of Warcraft

Blizzard’s MMORPG World of Warcraft reaches the milestone 20th anniversary this year. Holly Longdale shared a message on the official site to remind players of the WoW roadmaps and share the three things the team is focused on.

There is plenty of exciting new content coming to all the available versions of World of Warcraft in 2024. WoW Classic: Season of Discovery Phase 2 kicks off on February 8th. The Hardcore Realms’ Self-Found mode is also arriving in February, albeit closer to the end of the month, followed shortly after by the Beta for Cataclysm Classic.

Many players have also noticed the mysterious pirate-themed mark next to the update 10.2.6 on the WoW Roadmap. In the blog post update, Holly Longdale mentions that the team had created a unique event inspired by the past musings from the community. It will be open to anyone with subscription (be it Dragonflight or Classic). However, that is currently all you will hear on the matter. That also means there will be no PTR for a potion of the new content coming in March.

World of Warcraft – The Focus of the Dev Team Lies With:

  • Continue to evolve the living world for all players.
    • Build on our learnings from 2023 to deliver content regularly for Dragonflight and Classic.
    • Update and modernize your experience and quality of life in all flavors of WoW.
    • Listen to your feedback and keep improving.
  • Deliver the first installment of our most ambitious story with The War Within.
    • World of Warcraft: The War Within is preparing to invite players for testing in the coming months, and we are working hard to deliver on the epic journey of our Worldsoul Saga.
  • Try new things and take risks to bring you new experiences.
    • Our development team  is trying new approaches. Invention and creativity are critical to this ever-evolving world of Azeroth we craft for—and with—all of you.
