Ian Fleming Finds a New Home in John Carter Warlord of Mars

John Carter Warlord of Mars

In one of the oddest things we’ve read in a few days, it appears that Ian Fleming of James Bond fame will be making a cameo appearance in an upcoming action game called John Carter Warlord of Mars. The game is based on the works of renowned author Edgar Rice Burroughs and is in development by FNCPR Ltd. The game is set for release in May 2022 and will center on John Carter, an “interplanetary warrior” who is the subject of a number of Burroughs’ works dating back to 1912.

The game is set in 1945 with Carter working on a mission to find Hitler’s secret project operation. Ian Fleming is the one issuing the orders as a commander of a special WWII intelligence unit called T-Force. According to press information, this pays “homage to his real-life exploits during the war” as a key player in a number of intelligence operations and a nod to his family’s long history of military service.

In our game, we want to play at ‘spies’ in a tense ‘cat and mouse’ setting and then propel the action to the outrageous world of Barsoom, the name that Burroughs gave to Mars. Combining two of our favorite genres. We had a sci-fi expert to work on the game action on Mars and a historian to write our WWII section. We follow A PRINCESS OF MARS pretty closely for the Mars section and will have Sola, Woola, Tars Tarkas, and many other great characters.
