This last weekend, if you happened to be otherwise distracted, was Star Wars Celebration 2019 which was held this year in downtown Chicago, Illinois. The yearly Star Wars-centric gathering is much like a Comic-Con or any other Pop Culture fan festival that includes panels, gaming announcements (e.g. Jedi: Fallen Order), merchandise sales, etc.
One particular panel was the Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel which spotlighted a new trailer for the returning animated TV series’ seventh season. Before July of 2018, the San-Diego Comic-Con, fans had little hope that the series would return for a proper “conclusion”. The new trailer gives us looks at Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Captain Rex, Darth Maul and many others. Star Wars: The Clone Wars release date is still pending but it will include 12 new episodes, viewed as a proper conclusion, and will premiere on the forthcoming Disney Plus streaming service which arrives on November 12th of this year (rumored to be $6.99 / month)!
The panel last about an hour and included guests Dave Filoni, supervising director; Dee Bradley Baker, the voice of Captain Rex and Commander Cody; Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano; and Sam Witter, the voice of Darth Maul.
Dave explains how the revival came about, the decision process behind whether to continue as well as the challenges of making the show. The voice actors discussed their reaction to the news about another season as well as how they feel about giving the series a proper send-off. Filoni discusses how the show has been revamped a bit technology-wise and that we’ll encounter the “Bad Batch” Clone Troopers. At 22:10 below you can see a clip from “Bad Batch”.
If you’re a fan we strongly urge you to watch the Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel in its entirety below as the panel includes more video clips, concept art, Ray Park shooting the Maul fight scenes, lots of talk about the “Siege Of Mandalore”, and more surprise guests! If the kick-ass still of a battle-ready Ahsoka Tano below doesn’t gets your blood racing, what does?:
