Niantic has posted a new blog on the Pokemon Go site that lays out the details for the Festival of Lights 2022. In it, the team discusses what players can expect, what Pokemon they’re likely to encounter, and much more. Most excitingly, the Illuminating Pokemon are making a comeback!

The Festival of Lights event will run from Friday, October 14th to Monday, October 17th. Along the way, players will encounter a pair of new critters and have a bunch of event bonuses to leverage for the duration.

Let’s take a look at what’s what in the Festival of Lights:

  • Two new illuminating creatures will show up including Morelull and Shiinotic.
  • Players will have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Chinchou
  • Everyone earns 2x XP and 2x Candy for catching creatures
  • Players using incense during the event will have it last two hours instead of just one
  • Several critters will be more likely to appear in the wild. These include: Pikachu, Vulpix, Magnemite, Chinchou, Litwick, Litleo, Helioptile, Dedenne, and Morelull.
  • Lucky players may run into Galarian Ponyta or Togedemaru.

  • Lucky incense users may find Galarian Ponyta or Galarian Darumaka.
  • One-star, three-star, five-star, and mega raids will each have a variety of Pokemon that may appear including Xerneas and Mega Manectric. The harder the raid, the rarer the critters.
