Redemption Reapers has a release date, and you need to take a moment to check out this gorgeous dark fantasy JRPG.
Prepare to hold back the Mort armies as they devour the world. Descending from out of nowhere and sweeping away any resistance, these dark forces must be stopped. Redemption Reapers is set to take a stand on 22 February across PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This brand-new story takes place in a medieval world where only the faintest glimmer of hope remains against the forces of darkness. A team of mercenaries are dispatched to take on the overwhelming might of the Mort legions. It’s up to you to guide them through a gorgeous isometric turn based battles, through, deserted towns, open plains, and ruined castles.
The Talent
Marching out of Japan’s Adglobe and published by Binary Haze Interactive, this dark fantasy adventure doesn’t just look incredible. It has some serious pedigree behind it. Players picking up this adventure next month will find themselves cutting swathes through a story crafted by the likes of director Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Producer – ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights), with game balance design courtesy of tactical RPG veteran Masayuki Horikawa (Series Director – Fire Emblem, Planning – Kingdom Hearts III), Tomokazu Fukushima (Scenario – Metal Gear Solid, Freedom Wars), and Rei Kondoh (Music – Bayonetta Series, Fire Emblem Series). The voice cast is no less impressive, featuring Alejandra Reynoso (Castlevania, DOTA 2), Jason Spisak (Arcane, Teen Titans Go!), Kyle McCarley (13 Sentinels: Aegis of Ruin, NieR: Automata), Allegra Clark (Apex Legends, Dragon Age: Inquisition), David Lodge (Persona 5, Final Fantasy XV), and Caleb Yen (Squid Game, Triangle Strategy, Attack on Titan).
The Game
While this takes plenty of lead from established turn based JRPGs there’s something that makes Redemption Reapers stand apart. The distinct aesthetic and combat visuals certainly caught our attention. While this all makes for a great trailer, players will be able to precisely plan combat, forging powerful combinations and customizing upgrades to strengthen attack and defense. Positioning will be crucial when taking on the Mort, and each character can wield special abilities to turn the tide of combat. When not wielding the latest weaponry, these warriors will explore the ruins of this world and unlock a deeply personal story.
