Sometimes you just want to leave your house, and sometimes you need to leave the planet and become a space transport pilot. Developer Coffeenauts has created a 60s space-age type of adventure, Spacelines from the Far Out. A co-op title that will have you transporting people from one place to another as you earn prestige for yourself. Here is our review.

To begin with, Spacelines is a co-op roguelike management game about, flying a ship in space. Your mission is to take people from one outpost to another while keeping them fed and entertained all at once. When playing solo you will maintain every system by yourself. This means if you want to help yourself out then get your friends to play with you.

Every single campaign is different because of the trip generator inside of this title. Every route, destination, and map is different. The number of passengers and types of passengers are also randomly generated for each mission. While you are in flight your primary duty is to take care of the passenger’s needs. Whether you are feeding them or dancing for them.

While everything is randomized there is one thing that can be earned after reaching certain goals, new ships. Each ship comes with the ability to upgrade away from the basic version of itself. In fact, there are 15 different systems that can be upgraded in your ship. From the helm, radar, and cooking systems, everything can be upgraded to fit your passenger’s needs. The AI system for the game, or for the passengers is completely separate. The total game AI allows you to seamlessly merge from single player to multiplayer modes while each passenger AI has its own feelings and needs while flying with you.

I love the whole aspect of Spacelines from the Far Out. From the tutorial, which is very good, to regular story missions, it is all good. Missions take up fuel and you get a limited amount until you find space gas stations to fill up at. It is amazing fun to travel through your map dodging asteroids and finding people who have been wrecked on something. You rescue the people and add them to your passenger list. From there you will keep them happy until you dock at your next checkpoint station. For every passenger that you make happy your score will go up. The higher the score, the more money you get to use towards a new ship and upgrades.

With co-op I am sure, based on the images I have seen, it would be easier and more fun to play with friends. One person for flying, one for helping the passengers, and others to maintain the ship and do random tasks. It is by no means required of you to play with anyone else but it does help depending on the difficulty of the levels. It is a futuristic game with 60’s era costuming and space race feels to it. I like the game and I feel like other people would love it too.

The game has lots of customizations for your very own space liner ferrying people from one place to another. You can purchase the title on Steam and on the Epic store as well.
