The Maestros Beta Weekend Starts May 25th

The Maestros

The Maestros has announced a closed beta weekend that will be running from Friday, May 25th at 5 pm EST through Sunday, May 27th, 9 pm EST.

The Maestros is an online multiplayer real-time strategy that offers two factions: Knights of Teutonia and Alchemists of Regalis.  The game features fast-paced gameplay that will have players fight through the map filled with enemy NPCs and camps. Your team’s goal is to eliminate the enemy commanders off the face of the island.

First, seek out and battle neutral monsters in order to gather basic minions. Then, gain control of transform points around the map where you can mutate your basic minions into larger and more powerful ones, each with their own special ability. Choose the perfect combination of minions and their abilities to trap, blast, or melt all the enemy team’s commanders and win the round. Finally, rinse their tears off your good mouse hand, and repeat the process once more.

The Maestros is a wonderfully rendered RTS that comes across as a unique blend between the traditional RTS and a kind of MOBA. Rather than having specific bases/spawn points your champion must traverse the map hunting for creatures that, once dealt with, somehow give you minions, called doughboys (not sure on how that would work, but it does. That’s all you need to know). Like a MOBA, you command a single hero who will lead your forces to victory or ruin and is responsible for “harvesting” more troops. In other words, you are your base. Unlike many resource points in your average RTS, these resources respawn over time; however, be careful that you don’t end up alienating or inhibiting your teammates by claiming all the minion-making-monsters in the area as it may leave you to fend for yourself against a united opposing team.
