Tomb Raider-esque Phantom Abyss Leaves Early Access to Delve into v1.0

Devolver Digital and Team WIBY have announced that Phantom Abyss has left early access and is now in full retail release. The Tomb Raider-esque asynchronous multiplayer game can be played via Xbox Series X/S, on Xbox Game Pass, or Steam.

Players are charged with delving into ancient labyrinthine tombs to find all the treasures inside. Developers have released a new trailer that showcases gameplay, deadly traps, bottomless pits, aggressive guardians, and giant spikes.

Throughout its nearly three-year early access period, players have been instrumental in assisting developers in the best features to include in the game. According to the team, the game has undergone a massive transformation that now offers massively improved gameplay and greatly expanded features for its 1.0 debut.

What’s new in v1.0?

  • Adventure Mode: Embark on curated journeys through hand-crafted temples, each featuring a unique whip, relic, and set of challenges.
  • Abyss Mode: Face the ultimate test in the classic, ever-changing, procedurally-generated temple. Only one explorer can claim its hidden glory.
  • Daily Mode: Hone your skills with fresh twists on familiar trials, served up each day for a new taste of adventure.

Other features

  • Asynchronous Multiplayer: Watch and learn from the mistakes of up to 20 phantoms including your Steam friends that have attempted the same temple and steal their whips as they fall.
  • Treacherous Floors: The more difficult a relic is to obtain, the greater the reward – the final Legendary Relic of a temple allows you to claim the whole temple so that it’s gone forever.
  • Blessings from the Gods: Collect as much treasure as you can to please the gods and gain a double jump, glide jump, extended slide, damage protection, and more!
  • Unlockable Whips: Each whips carries a minor blessing but also a curse that may complicate your attempt at riches and glory.
  • Social Connections: Players can share Temple Codes for their failed runs allowing friends to attempt the same temple or share their Adventure Code which yields a playlist of temples that a player has attempted in the past.
