Zool Redimensioned Brings back Zool Today

The Ninja of the Nth dimension is back today as Secret Mode release Zool Redimensioned.

Originally released way back in 1992 using a custom C++ game engine, Zool hit home computers and gathered something of a cult following. Now, this nippy little ninja is back to relive the adventure on PC. The vibrant, side-scrolling retro platformer from publisher Secret Mode and developer Sumo Digital Academy has been rebuilt from the ground up, featuring the same easily recognizable characters, platforming action, and colorful graphics that retro fans will already recognize.

Much like Sonic Mania, this rebuild of the original includes much of the original with a bunch of enhancements. Over 28 retro platforming challenges are included in Zool Redimensioned, as well as two main game modes: Redimensioned for a more accessible modern experience, or Ultimate Ninja to experience a true hardcore challenge. The boss fights won’t be exactly the same, however. Instead, seven new boss fights will add a dangerous new flavor to this popular platformer. There are also added secrets, challenges, and over 25 achievements for completeness.

If all of these quality of life improvements are getting in the way of muscle memory, then players who remember Zool the first time around can also switch on the original Mega Drive version. I’m just not entirely sure if we will get the same CRRT scan lines or not.

If you are ready to return to the Nth dimension then Zool is available on Steam for $9.99 / €9.99 / £6.99.
