During last night’s Game Awards 2019, Amazon Game Studios twitterpated a lot of fans of MMORPGs with a brand new trailer for New World and the announcement that it’s preparing to make its debut in May 2020. The trailer gives a peek in to the world of Aeternum, the location players will explore as they embark on a quest for power — something that doesn’t look like it should end well. But, hey, as the hero, who knows what players can accomplish?
“Legend has led generations of explorers to the supernatural frontier known as Aeternum. Rich in a powerful substance known as Azoth, which many believe to be the source of eternal life, Aeternum has beckoned both the pure of heart and the wicked to its shores.”
The game trailer showcases at least two groups of settlers heading to the world of Aeternum, one Roman, the other patterned after Spanish conquistadors. As each succumbs to the corrupted power of the land, they are turned against the next who come looking for the same. Conquistadors fight off the Roman soldiers who came before and it seems that the player will be facing off against the united undead forces of both along with other corrupted beings.
The plan is for a closed beta in April 2020 with launch coming in May 2020. Pre-orders are open and those who choose to purchase ahead of time are guaranteed access to the beta period and some in-game goodies as well.
