Are You Ready For Rollerdome?

Roll7 and Private Division have announced a brand new single-player, third-person shooter that mashes high speed acrobatics with trigger happy action, and it looks incredible.

Swap out your skateboard thanks to the latest title from Roll7 and Private Division. Announced during the most recent State of Play update, this upcoming mashup looks likely to channel the high speed skill of SSX Tricky with the blood pumping action of Doom. Taking something of a change from the critically acclaimed OlliOlli World and the newly unveiled Void Riders update, Rollerdome will come hurtling onto PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC to a very different future.

Building a retro-futuristic universe with its very own look and feel, the comic-book inspired look and viciously dark synth soundtrack are just the decoration for a cutting edge adventure. Set in 2030, during a time when an ever more sinister political situation requires some fundamental change, Rollerdome keeps the public occupied with the violence and excess of a brutal new arena sport. Along the way, competitors run a gauntlet of brutality against the game’s house champions, and there’s plenty of bruising to endure.

Players picking up their skates and trying to score the highest number of points possible will expect to follow in the tracks of Kara Hassan, a newcomer to this bloody bowl. As the mysteries of a wicked tech giant unfold behind the scenes, Kara and the player will have to stay focused on their goal – climbing the ranks in hopes of becoming the next Rollerdrome champion.

This probably sounds a lot like pulp classic Rollerball, and we’d assume that the inspiration isn’t going to hide in the shadows here either. After wowing the internet with the reinvention of the OlliOlli series, this unexpected new announcement comes thanks to a similar reception early in its conception.

“It’s been amazing to see this project come to life from the original prototype that received a lot of love online, all the way to the brutal and intense experience it is now – thanks to the amazing work of the team at Roll7″ says Paul Rabbitte, Creative Director at Roll7. “We’re really excited for players to jump into Rollerdrome.”

Rollerdrome will be available for digital download for £24.99* on August 16, 2022, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 as well as PC (Steam). Rollerdrome is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
