Blizzard Reveals Restriction on Purchase of WoW Token

World of Warcraft community manager Kaivax has taken to the official Blizzard forums to announce the new restrictions on purchasing of WoW Tokens. The update goes live today, November 21st. According to the developers, the new measures are meant to preserve the integrity of the game and provide a better token market to players.

“Players will no longer be allowed to purchase a WoW Token from the Auction House or the in-game Shop for gold if they have not spent real money to purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time (a “Time Limited License”) since 2017. This does not affect the consumption of existing WoW Tokens, however, game time provided by the consumption of a WoW Token does not count toward the qualification to purchase a WoW Token for gold.

After November 21, 2023, any player who cannot purchase a WoW Token for gold in-game will need to first purchase and consume at least 30 days of game time for real money. This can be done on any World of Warcraft account across the player’s Battle.net account to qualify.”

The news measures are likely meant to fight against gold sellers and bots, and might see the overall price of the WoW Token go down after the update had been active for a while.

At the moment, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is going through patch 10.2: Guardians of the Dream. Dragonriding players are in for another update Seeds of Renewal, currently in development. But very soon it will be the time to leave the Dragon Isles and go back to face the Worldsoul Saga.
