Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is the newest announcement form narrative studio Dontnod, and things are about to take a sightly darker turn for the worse.
The tea behind hugely successful tales such as Life is Strange is about to take players on a spooky adventure with the news that a new title is about to land sometime in 2023. Banishers follows on from the recent release of Gerda: A Flame in Winter and couldn’t be a more different contrast to the morally complex tale of war. Instead, the upcoming release will play as Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters
While previous supernatural series might have dabbled in time twisting, this action RPG is set firmly in the year 1695. Playing as two central protagonists, players will pick up after a disastrous mission. In the aftermath, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. Both characters must venture out into the wilds of North America and find a way to lift this burden and release Antea.
Given Dontnod’s pedigree, Banishers promises a riveting story. An announcement trailer also seems to introduce an utterly gorgeous and wild frontier of early America. While the action element unlocks new ways for players to vanquish the undead, we’re as excited about getting to know these two when Banishers hits Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam. You can get a glimpse of the action in the trailer above or head to the official website to find out more.
