HOOK has announced that Edengate – The Edge of Life is now available for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. The game can be purchased for either platform for $6.99. Centered on the life of Mia, players take on the narrative adventure as she travels through a desolate city. Developers have cited inspiration from the recent covid pandemic as the basis for the game.
The game begins with Mia, a promising young biologist, waking up in an abandoned hospital with no memory of how she got there. Her journey centers on discovering how this happened to her and why. Along the way, she is confronted with a world entirely at odds with the one she remembers. She travels on a journey to find traces of life and uncovers the terrifying events that have destroyed the once-beautiful city. Developers have combined exploration, investigation, puzzle-solving, and “meaningful decision-making” to create an emotional journey.
The concept and development of the game were formed during the most difficult months of the pandemic. It represents the fear, isolation, and uncertainty in the future that the development team felt during this time.
