Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Maxis have taken to the official site of The Sims 4 to provide a glimpse at the past, present and the bright future of the series. For the past 22 years, the series has been an incredible platform of creativity, self-discovery and imaginative expression. The team is all-in on The Sims and will continue to create meaningful stories.
Here’s a look at what’s to come for The Sims.
- The Sims 4 base game is now available for free, with more content being developed into the foreseeable future;
- The next generation of The Sims is currently in development;

- Exciting new updates for The Sims FreePlay and The Sims Mobile.
That’s right, the base version of The Sims 4 is now available for free on PC via EA App or Origin, Mac via Origin, Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Simmers who have purchased The Sims 4 base game by October 17 will receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift. Desert Luxe Kit allows Sims to soak up the sun and relax in their own modern oasis.
