Eternal Threads Has A Steam Demo You Should Take Time To Play

Eternal Threads, an interesting take on well established time travel tropes, just got a free Steam Demo ahead of its full launch.

Due to warp into existence on 19 May 2022, Eternal Threads isn’t your entirely traditional take on time travel tales. Set in a timeline where you can look but not touch, players are plunged into the role of Operator 43, a recently qualified time-travelling operative working for the Second Chance Project.  This means fixing corrupted timelines is part of the daily routine, but developer Cosmonaut Studios isn’t going to tell you exactly what to do. Introduced to a sandbox environment, Operators must restore the timeline in any way they choose, but without causing repercussions afterwards.

In this case that means a ton of freedom to digest the story when players are sent back to North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. By changing the housemates’ decisions in the week leading up to the fire, players will try to rescue all six people from the deadly blaze. You, however, will not be able to simply stop the blaze due to the knock on effect of those actions, so it’s all free form puzzle solving and  forethought. Put enough time in and you will be able to experience multiple ways to save the housemates and a range of outcomes too.

The new demo provides a window into this interesting mix  of ideas. The demo grants players access to the full sandbox timeline, letting them approach the story however they choose. Depending on events selected and decisions made, operators can experience a full hour of gameplay, watch up to 25 different events, or rescue two of the housemates during the course of the demo. You can try out Eternal Threads now or find out more on the Steam Store page.
