As reported at Gamespot, it seems the developers behind the fantastic recent run of Hitman are working on a brand new IP. There’s a job listing recently posted on the IO site that states:
“The team is currently working on an new unannounced IP.”
The ad is for a position in the studio’s “incubation team,” which apparently is “a small team of designers [who] prototype gameplay mechanics in Unreal Engine.”
The plot thickens…
Whatever that new IP may be is a mystery, but I’m fairly certain I trust IO after their work on Hitman in 2016. This shouldn’t spell worry for the fans of Hitman though, as the studio recently said the game could get as much as two more seasons of content. Hitman’s episodic nature has really done well for Square Enix and IO, so it leads one to wonder if perhaps this next IP could follow suit, or if it will wind up being a more traditional adventure.
While I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to see what Kane & Lynch are up to, I suspect a new IP would be in the studio’s best interests as well.
