Fans of HoYoverse’s first big breakout hit that isn’t Genshin Impact will be loading up a massive new update for Honkai Impact 3rd on 29th February. Honkai Impact 3rd, the mobile title that mixes action combat with anime aesthetics is finally getting its big part 2. Originally announced at Tokyo Games Show, the new era for this gacha game is set to take players into an entirely new arc for the series, introduce enhancements, and leave for an entirely new world!
Taking the established story off world and heading to mars, players will find themselves in a brand-new city. The recent preview shows off a slither of Oxia City, the modern metropolis, and the shopping malls it hosts. Wandering through a mega mall, this seems to draw from sci-fi and cyberpunk, and even steampunk ideas. Inspiration comes from across cultural boundaries, and it’s sure to be just the tip of this massive Mars settlement.
When not out shopping, players absconding to mars can take on new challenges, experiencing original locations, and meeting new friends along the way. After 5 chapters battling a deadly corruption, this step change will bring more than just a simple story update. The core of this Honkai is the action combat system. Unlike the turn-based action of Star Rail, this title is all about real time responses. The second major stage will thoroughly overhaul the game’s integral combat experience, allowing players to jump at their own leisure, and experience a whole new set of capabilities and challenges that overcome the Y-axis. A brand-new Astral Ring mechanic will unleash the option to use simultaneous burst skills of multiple characters, creating impressive visual effects and providing an easier, more direct option to achieve a burst.
When you do join this upcoming adventure, expect to meet new companions too. Part 2 opens with three new friends, they are: Sending, the lively and uplifting girl with striking red hair; Helia, the skilled warrior and reliable partner; and Coralie, the petite girl with a giant hammer as her weapon. Like any gacha game, these won’t be the last, but for fans of this long running HoYo adventure, Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 is a huge deal.
