Last Epoch Shared Mid-Cycle Balance Survey Recap

Last Epoch Shared Mid-Cycle Balance Survey Recap

Almost 70,000 heroes of Eterra have participated in the survey to discuss Last Epoch mid-cycle balance. The developers have shared the results of the survey as well as the decisions that have come as the result.

The developers aim to roll out fixes to certain bugs that resulted in wildly overperforming gear or skills. However, with a bug resulting in a mild overperformance, it is a much less clear stance. From defining what is considered “mild”, to a number of other concerns. In the end, the team decided to treat these bugs in a case-by-case way.

The player feedback also indicated that players do not want any nerfs to land on the builds that are simply stronger than others, without influences from bugs. As such, the team will avoid balance changes that are not bug-related. Even if it is resulting in a build, skill, or item highly overperforming.

The developers from Eleventh Hour Games have also decided to add leaderboard functionality displaying which specific patch, or timespan an entry happened during.

“With over 74% of all votes in the survey crushing the other options, as well as in written feedback, the stance from the involved community is fairly clear. We should be fixing bugs which cause skills or items to highly overperform, and as such, will be doing so. This is a change from our previous stance where we didn’t want to alter balance mid-cycle. Now, if it’s the case of a bug, we will be pushing out these fixes in mid-cycle patches.”

Here’s the latest Last Epoch survey in numbers:

  • 74.3% participants want OP skills and items fixed;
  • 86.5% want to be notified prior to nerfing OP builds;
  • 71.9% players disagree with nerfing skills or items that are OP if it’s not due to a bug;
