Lords of the Fallen Technical Trailer – Here Comes the Science

Lords of the Fallen dropped an ambitious new trailer during GDC that gave us all a look at the stunning technical capabilities of the Unreal 5 Engine.

It’s been a hot minute since the very first demo of Unreal 5 dropped but the developers at Hexworks confirmed that Unreal Engine 5 harbors some serious firepower behind all those lines of code. The new trailer dropped as part of Epic’s ‘State of Unreal’ showcase and vies a glimpse into the foreboding but beautiful vision of this world.

You can check out just under four minutes of highlights above, the latest trailer since its Gamescom reveal. This includes a look at the character systems in this action RPG. Full body scans and advanced character customization tech ill allow adventurers to customize their avatar, with armor sets automatically adjusting. So no clipping through capes or weird protruding ridges here. The UE5 engine allows those same adornments to look intricately details and move in fantastic ways thanks to the Chaos physics engine. Form a pure gameplay perspective, we also got to see more combat between players and in game enemies, while the backdrop of this teaser was the journey to Skyrest Bridge, one of the game’s early locations.

Between the pretty particle effect and dynamic movement, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Lords of the Fallen is something of a dark fantasy. This grim action title puts players in the role of a fabled Dark Crusader, who must embark on an epic quest to overthrow Adyr, the demon God. This quest is far from straight forward. You’ll traverse two realms, Umbral and Axiom to take on a huge range of enemies, utilize an array of character classes, and rise from death when that inevitably arrives. Lords of the Fallen is due to hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this year. Find out more about Lords of the Fallen on the official website.
