Funcom has announced that Conan the Barbarian fans can match wits with the big man himself thanks to a new text-based adventure found on the Heroic Signatures site. Players will be able to immerse themselves in a Hyborian adventure like no other. If successful, players will be awarded with a link where they can sign up for a chance to win a Hyborian Age map created by Francesca Baerald.
According to the the press kit, this new text-based adventure is tied to Conan Exiles, the open-world survival game by Funcom. Fans of the Choose Your Own Adventure books from the 80s and 90s will immediately feel at home. The adventure takes place in the Dusky Coil Inn, a location from the game, and asks players to type in actions they’d like to perform.
Working with developer and writer Lo Terry, Heroic Signatures wishes to balance some of the freedoms of AI with the tailored scenarios and characters of Conan’s world. While the player can attempt to do whatever they want, odd and frivolous behavior will invite the contempt of Conan himself. The game is infused with all of Robert E. Howard’s stories and additional lore within the Conan universe. Devs have created a fun experience for anyone seeking to be immersed in the Hyborian Age.
