Mutation Invasion Lumbers into Fallout 76

Fallout 76 Mutation Invasion

Bethesda has announced the arrival of Mutation Invasion into Fallout 76. Players will find a ton of new content to explore as things begin to mutate in the game’s Public Events. These special events offer players more challenges and better rewards for intrepid souls willing to take them on.

To showcase what players can expect, developers released a trailer in all its zombie-esque detail.

Mutations are part of Season 12: Rip Daring and the Cryptid Hunt. A number of other game improvements and enhancements come along with it including improvements to Daily Ops, new items in the in-game shop, new rewards to unlock, and much more.

Mutations give monsters buffs that make them even deadlier. At the top of every hour, a Mutated Public Event will appear. Players will need to look for a special icon that will indicate the Public Event is Mutated. Regular Public Events will appear for the remainder of the hour. Mutated Public Events can include conditions such as:

  • Volatile: Enemies explode upon death
  • Active Camouflage: Enemies are cloaked when not attacking
  • Resilient: Enemies can only be slain with a melee attack
  • Freezing Touch: Slow targets down upon attack
  • Toxic Blood: Enemies leave behind small poisonous hazards upon death
  • Group regeneration: Enemies heal each other when within radius
  • Swift Footed: Increased movement and attack speed

Of course, great risk equals great reward. Players can earn loot, including XP, Legendary items, Treasury Notes, or a Mutated Package. The latter can contain rare rewards. Players who tackle these events with Fallout 1st members will earn even more rewards.

Daily Ops refreshed

A new threat has joined the Daily Ops rogue gallery: Aliens from beyond the stars have made their way to Daily Ops! Players will also visit three new Daily Ops locations including: Capitol Building, Garrahan Mining Headquarters and Morgantown High School. Do you and your crew have what it takes to save the day?
