Ex Warhammer and Dark Age of Camelot executive Jeff Hickman just joined Loric Games
A name that plenty of MMO players might recognize has reunited with comrades in arms to take on a new project. Loric Games just announced that Jeff Hickman just joined the Virginia based development studio. The news means that Jeff takes on the rle of Chief Production Officer, steering this largely unknown outfit towards the goal of finishing a next generation Co-op Airship RPG.
While we don’t know much about this upcoming title, we do know plenty of the names behind Loric. Largely founded and widely staffed by ex Mythic developers, the appointment is significant in reuniting Hickman with a number of old comrades, and potentially cooking up something special.
The possibility of something great seems to have sparked investor interest too. Loric took the same time to confirm that it had secured a substantial $4 million USD in led by 1AM Gaming and Hiro Capital.
“Everyone at 1AM can blame Brian, Rob, Jeff – and many of the Loric Games team – for sleepless nights up late with our friends raiding the Hibs in Dark Age of Camelot. For that alone, we almost invested in their new project,” said Louis Gresham, Co-Founder of 1AM GAMING. “But it was learning about their vision for the game and knowing that they have a desire to steer co-op RPGs in a whole new direction that made us realize we wanted to be a part of what they’re building.”
While we’ve yet to see any online airships, that means plenty of time to clock in a decent night’s sleep before Loric steal it all away later. Keep an eye on Gamespace for more when this studio hoists the sails and take aim at the competition.
