New Tomb Raider Game Being Built Using Unreal Engine 5

Tomb Raider

During yesterday’s Unreal Engine 5 Showcase, Crystal Dynamics announced that a brand new Tomb Raider game is in the works that will be built using UE5. If you thought that previous entries in the series were gorgeous (and they are!), we’re pretty sure that we’ll all be blown away when we get a first look at the game sometime in the future. According to the short announcement video contained in the following tweet, development on the game has “just started” so it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing Tomb Raider and the “new” Lara Croft any time soon.

One quote of particular interest from the video is this one: “Our goal is to push the envelope of fidelity, and to deliver the high-quality, cinematic action-adventure experience that fans deserve from both Crystal Dynamics and the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise.”

There’s no telling where Lara’s story will go next. In her last foray, she was in a South American-esque location so it could mean a follow up to that one or it could be a completely new story. Only time will tell.

Check out the Twitter post above and then head to the Tomb Raider official site to see if anything new has been revealed.
