Phantom Fury Marks the Return of Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison

Ion Fury and Slipgate Ironworks have announced that Phantom Fury will bring back one of gaming’s most entertaining characters. Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison will be starring in a new “road movie adventure” game after her iconic debut in Bombshell in 2016. The game is expected to debut in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Gamers will meet Shelly again after she is awakened from a coma. She’s received a power-up along the way and now sports a bionic arm. It’s capable of incredible feats, which is a good thing due to her need to hunt down the Demon Core. The Demon Core is an artifact capable of “unprecedented destruction,” and it’s up to Shelly to secure it.

Shelly will take to the road in her search for the Demon Core. Along the way, she’ll duke it out with soldiers, cyborgs, mutants, and challenging bosses. She’ll visit sites throughout the USA including Albuquerque, Los Alamos, Chicago, and many other “sinister locations.” While she’s moseying through the country, she’ll pilot helicopters, solve puzzles, hack computers, play arcade games, and much more.

Of course, no game worth its salt would be fun without an incredible arsenal. Shelly will have access to more than 20 weapons starting with her trusty Loverboy revolver. Shelly also has Bowling Bombs as well as new equipment like armor-piercing shotguns, electrified shooting devices, and drones. Everything Shelly can use can be upgraded with mods that add fire functions, etc. Players will also be able to unlock new abilities for Shelly’s arm to strengthen punch attacks and electric shields. She’ll need all the help she can get while searching for Demon Core.

“We’ve been quietly working on Phantom Fury in hopes of shocking everyone at Realms Deep.” said Frederik Schreiber, CEO at Slipgate Ironworks and 3D Realms. “This was a game we wanted to make for almost a decade. It feels awesome to finally show it to everyone. We know you’ll love going on this explosive road trip next year.”
