Because size does matter! Philips has just announced that it will be releasing an updated version of its award-winning 49” Curved Ultra wide QHD display to the US market in quarter 4 of 2018. The original 49” 492P8 curved display won 2018 iF Design Award for its incredible design and form factor. For more information on the iF Design awards be sure to check out their site here.
This curved display boasts a display of 5120×1440 pixel resolution with up-to 600 nits of brightness as well as an impressive 5000:1 contrast ratio and 178-degree viewing angles. Philips has also designed the monitor with a frameless display design allows for a seamless transition in a multi-monitor setup and maximizes the curved monitors surface area. Packed with connectivity options this monitor comes equipped with a host of connection ports including DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C, VGA, USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
The new QHD display will pack a pretty powerful punch visually and promises one of the clearest, crispest images available. For the those new to the term, a QHD (Quad High Definition) screen essentially can pack the pixels of 4 regular 720p HD screens into its one screen. The result is not only a vastly superior image thanks to the extra pixels but also allows for much higher resolutions in the same surface area. Although an exact release date or price point has yet to be released we will be sure to update you as more information becomes available.
