Pope Simulator Puts Players In The Pulpit

Ultimate Games S.A. has unveiled a curious new title by the name of Pope Simulator.

Players eager to get out of the [pews and into the pulpit can now look forward to Ultimate Games S.A. newly unveiled Pope Simulator. That’s right, prayers, politics, and the PC master race are all about to collide when Pope Simulator arrives. A curious idea, the announcement 4is set to put players in the position of Pope. It will attempt to distinguish itself by its realism and great focus on political and strategic elements. Heading the largest single religious institution in the world, this simulator is certainly going to raise at least a few interesting questions.

While the Catholic Church is known for making the headlines, it isn’t normally in gaming magazines. The title is set to focus on the potential political and strategic issues of the Catholic Church but we’re not quite sure whether to expect a softball approach to the more sordid side of the church or a cut and thrust artistic critique of the whole institution. The game is purportedly in early development but the studio behind this sim has shared a little more on the concept behind this Pope-ular news story.

“The Pope has no military or economic power behind him, but he has other means of influencing the world, which was evident in the 1980s, for example, when the communist system in Poland collapsed. Our idea assumes the possibility to use, among others, the so-called soft power, and – consequently – influence the fate of the world and interfere in international politics. All this, of course, in accordance with the vision adopted by the player” – explains Mateusz Zawadzki.

So, with the team here at gamespace still struggling to know is this is an inspired idea or a Pope of Nope type situation, we invite you to check out the teaser trailer and decide for yourself. It’s possibly even more leftfield than Toplitz’s Lumberjack styled sim that launched of late. For more details on a title that’s sure to get somebody up in arms, head over to the official Steam store page if you want to wishlist this for PC now.
