Gamereactor is reporting a new rumor that Halo Infinite may be scrapped for Xbox One so the development team can focus more closely on the Xbox Series X version. The rumors come from Resetera user “Sponger” who is said to have a “good track record for Xbox Game Studios leaks”.
According to Sponger, the Xbox One S version is suffering from serious asset loading issues and is struggling to hit 900p, let alone the 1080p that most players expect from modern games. “Microsoft/343i is currently very busy with the idea of dropping Xbox One support for Halo Infinite,” he wrote. “Even the idea to postpone it to early 2022 is on the table. It’s pretty messy up there with decisions but they are convinced that they need to make the best Halo game ever.”
Please do keep in mind that this is a rumor only. The official word is that the game will be out in 2021, a delay from the original release date. The game’s development has been hampered by COVID-19 with the team working at home.
