Settlers of Catan Rolls onto Console

Catan – Console Edition is out today, bringing the hit Settlers of Catan to Xbox and PlayStation players now.

Forget the gaming table, Catan is coming to front rooms and you just need enough space for a console. Catan – Console Edition is out now across PlayStation and Xbox platforms, brining all the friendly competition of this massive desktop title when sitting on the sofa. The newest incarnation of this board game brings players into the action online, solo, or around the couch thanks to three different game modes.

Across an animated board, new and experienced players will find NPCs busily farming land, mining ore, tending to animals, pillaging loot, and more. The traditional hex shaped homesteads of Catan are clearly visible in the trailer for the console version, as ship bob in the spray and cities rise across the land.

It’s all very familiar for anybody that’s played Catan before, with players winning by scoring Victory Points. These can be gained in various ways including building the ‘Longest Road’ or amassing the ‘Largest Army’. Building Cities and Settlements are crucial to putting points on the board, so gathering resources through negotiation or the end of a sword are both viable options.

With the option to play with friends in person, online, or against AI, Catan – Console edition brings plenty of variety to the established game. There’s even the option to play on five game boards featured in previous years’ World, European and American competitions by purchasing the Deluxe Edition of the game. Get game night on in Catan, and hopefully you’ll all be speaking by the end of it. Catan – Console Edition is available now for $19.99 / €19.99 or local equivalent.
