Slitherine Software and MGM just dropped a new episode of Stargate with the launch of tactical adventure Stargate: Timekeepers.
In a move that we were utterly unprepared for, Stargate s back. The SG1 universe has returned in the guise of a an RPG that combines plenty of familiar sci-fi tropes and tactical combat. The very first episode of this new tale is available right now over on Steam. This demo is a prelude to a larger trek to take on a new tale of heroism against powerful alien forces. Players who are ready to throw money at the screen can download the teaser over at the Steam Store now and then pre order ahead of the game’s release, on 12 December 2023.
As exciting as this gaming return is, don’t expect Jack to come back. Stargate: Timekeepers s a new adventure following Commander Eva McCain, Max Bolton, Sam Watson, and Derreck harper in a new story. Kicking off at the climactic Battle of Antarctica. Anybody jumping in will find this force helping to hold back Anubis as it tries to wipe out Earth. Sometime later, Eva and her team of specialists are tasked with a new mission in the Stargate universe: help the Jaffa Resistance, prevent brutal rituals, strike against Moloc’s army, and seek an alliance with the Unas.
Once the title launches, we’re expecting an original title with varied characters, unique skills, and 14 narrative-rich missions. While this much loved franchise could be dangerous territory for any developer, this comes out of the same studio behind Starship Troopers: Terran Command, so we’re hoping for a respectful return for the franchise.
