Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin dropped a final trailer giving fans of the fantasy franchise a full five minutes of utterly absurd pre-launch footage.
Final Fantasy fans are used to some unusual takes from a series that has seen remasters, rebuilds, and a lore as deep as it gets, but the final trailer for Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin takes it a step beyond. The lengthy preview gives potential owners of the latest in this epic series crystals, cornfields, a Kraken, and romance all played out to Frank Sinatra’s My Way. We’re not sure exactly what it all means but it seems like this new instalment is going to be either a work of epic brilliance we’re going to be analyzing for years or an utterly odd catastrophe, but we’re intrigued either way.
Interlaced between the tale of Jack, this final trailer gives us a look at the in game combat coming to Stranger Of Paradise, looking much like the action combat we’ve come to expect in titles like FF7: Remake. There’s a glimpse of jack taking on some lager than life enemies with different weapons and wielding a powerful crystal.
Developed by Koei Tecmo Games and Team Ninja and published by the series long standing publisher Square Enix, the newest Final Fantasy game is not a prequel or a remake of an older title. This alternative account takes the Final Fantasy series back to earlier days and puts players in the role of protagonist Jack. Alongside his allies, this warrior is initially tied up with the fate of early Final Fantasy boss Chaos, but things might not go the way players are expecting. Despite the narrative bombshells that we’re not going to spoil here, Stranger Of Paradise looks like a fantastic place for newcomers to start with. Fans of the series are probably going to get a kick out of some familiar faces, while this gives new players a touchpoint for much of the later lore.
For now, enjoy knowing that My Way is now a Final Fantasy song. Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be available on PS5™, PS4™ Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store on 18th March 2022.
