Take to the Broom in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

Warner Bros. Games and Unbroken Studios have announced Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions for consoles and PC. Very little information is known at this point beyond the 16-second sizzle trailer showcasing everyone’s favorite magical sporting event. Players interested in the game are invited to head to its official site to sign up for playtesting opportunities. However, that comes with the caveat that no information is known about what platforms will be playtesting or when those events may happen. It’s also worth noting that developers have said that signing up doesn’t guarantee participation in playtesting. Take that for what you will.

There is a rather lackluster FAQ on the game’s site. Let’s take a look at some of the key facts presented.

  • It is a fast-paced, competitive multiplayer game featuring the world’s most iconic magical sport.
  • Warner Bros. Games are publishing it under the Portkey Games label.
  • The game has been in development by Unbroken Studios for “several years”
  • The game is a standalone experience that engages players in the sport of Quidditch and “other broomstick adventures”
  • It can be played with friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting
  • The game is in limited playtests at the moment. Players can sign up to possibly be included
  • No release date information is available
  • The game is being developed for PC and consoles, though which consoles remains unkown
  • Players will be able to create and customize their own Champions
  • An internet connection will be required to play
  • Players can take on the game solo or in multiplayer

While Portkey Games are not direct adaptations of the books and films, the games are firmly rooted in the magical universe of the Wizarding World. While remaining true to J.K. Rowling’s original vision, Portkey game developers chart new territory by creating fresh ways for fans to immerse themselves in the Wizarding World.

That’s about all that’s known for the moment. Head to the Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions official site to sign up for testing.
