Recently we have heard that CD Projekt Red has delayed the next-gen console offering of one of its more popular game titles, The Witcher 3. They has not been a new release day set up just yet and it will not be out in time for quarter 2 as once intended.
Internal Development has taken over the project from Saber Interactive and need to take a look at how much work needs to be done. The company is a Russian based company and CD Projekt Red has previously stopped selling games in Russia. This may be the next step. CFPR has chosen not to answer questions on this topic at this time.
We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2

Right now there is no clue about exactly how long this shake-up will take to get figured out so that we can get news about a new release date. Delays aren’t always good, but this one gives us some hope for better things to come down the road.
Anyone who has already had Witcher 3 will be able to upgrade for free to the new versions when they launch. No specifics are available at this time though. We also don’t yet know what kind of enhancements will be added to the upgraded title. In the meantime check out our review for the Switch.
