Cute pixel art and the service industry come to the land of Gensokyo when Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya opens its doors to Nintendo Switch owners on 2 May.
Touhou Project gets a very different spin on the series during May. The long running Japanese franchise swaps bullet hell battles and monsters for a simpler set of challenges. Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya is a gentile restaurant simulator, set to serve customers, establish firm bonds, and explore a different side to this fantasy land.
Playing as Mystia, the proud owner of a mobile izakaya, players must rebuild their business in world with plenty of unusual opportunities. Locals need to be fed, and it’s up to you to fetch ingredients by day, then serve up delicious platters by night. All the usual café mechanics are firmly in place. Anybody who’s overcome the likes of Cuisineer or Moonlighter should feel right at home. Gensokyo will, however, reveal a few different faces. Characters from the Touhou series might frequent your humble shop, powering up the night with powerful combos. Locations like Youkai Trail, Human Village, Hakurei Shrine, Scarlet Devil Mansion, Bamboo Forest of The Lost, and Hakugyokurou are available to explore and come illustrated in intricate detail.
Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya is largely a chance to know this hugely popular eastern franchise in a different light. It’s already available over on Steam and managed an Overwhelmingly Positive response.
