Gamescom in Pictures: Hardware

Gamescom surprises us every year, and the 2018 edition was no different. While we’re used to a heavy presence from the hottest new titles, they were joined this year by some of the biggest hardware booths we’ve seen. Razer, Corsair, Gigabyte, and Asus all had a major presence on the convention floors, with their RGB presence pulling in the hordes. This year, however, they were joined by Western Digital, Samsung, Honor, and others all looking to get their names in front of gamers. European retailer Caseking also put in a strong showing, dominating with an amazing range of custom PC builds.

Just in case you weren’t able to get to Gamescom yourself, we’ve put together a gallery with some of the choicest hardware Cologne had to offer. From crazy builds to sweet new components, you’ll find it all here.   Give us a shout in the comments with your favorite picks from the show, and we’ll do our best to bring you a closer look.

While laptops and peripherals were common throughout the show, cellphone brands are a fairly fresh arrival at Gamescom. The huge success of Fortnite and PUBG on mobile, both demanding powerful phones, mean that premium brands have a new market to tap into. This may be the year in which top-tier mobile gaming finally arrives.

However, for those of you hoping that the RGB fad would come to an end, we have some bad news. If what we saw is anything to go by, the technicolor trend is shining brighter than ever. For now at least, rainbow is the new black.
