Amazon games will publish the next Tomb Raider game, adding lady Croft’s adventures to their growing games catalog.

Anybody who thought that Amazon’s gaming ambitions were stuck firmly in the realm of retail or the Prime Gaming loot drops might be surprised to see the online giant’s logo on the front of the next Tomb Raider title. Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games have announced that the two will be working closely, to bring a brand new vision of Tomb Raider to audiences.

This cross-platform title doesn’t have a name yet, but we do know that this narrative-driven title will be brought to life using Unreal 5, so we’re assuming the end result will be fantastic in photo mode. The latest in the loved franchise is set to focus on the exploration and creative puzzle challenges that made the franchise an iconic entry on the PlayStation 1 console and beyond, according to the details coming out of both studios.

“Tomb Raider is one of the most beloved IPs in entertainment history,” said Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games. “Amazon Games is committed to bringing players games of the highest quality, from the best developers, across all variety of platforms and genres, and we’re honored by the opportunity to work with this storied developer and franchise. Our team is incredibly excited about collaborating with the talented and visionary Crystal Dynamics team to bring the next chapter of Lara Croft’s saga to players around the world.”

This announcement follows almost directly on from the news that Blue Protocol is coming west under the Amazon Banner. The hotly anticipated anime inspired MMORPG is due to arrive in 2023, with full news of the upstart to the Genshi crown a serious step up for Amazon’s inconsistent history.

Tomb Raider, Blue Protocol, and other new IPs should make huge inroads on bolstering a library of games that also include the already revamped MMORPG New World and MMOARPG Lost Ark. While both of these are now in a positive state, middling launches mean that Lady Croft’s arrival in the Amazon stable is likely more than welcome
