Best Video Games of 2022

Making a list of the best video games of the year is difficult because there have been a lot of interesting games released this year, and most of the games are loved by players. The past years have defined the video game business more than its future for most of 2022.

Since 2017, when several interesting games were released, 2022 had the potential to be the year with the newest video games released. Unfortunately, many significant delays have reduced this year’s momentum. Nevertheless, despite these losses, the gaming industry could still release interesting and high-rated games.

Fortunately, 2022 has also seen the debut of a quality lineup of new games on several platforms, though some of them have been difficult to locate. Which of these games may you have missed? Don’t worry; we are here to keep you updated.

We have put together some of the best video games released this year for you. This list was compiled based on the online games’ reviews and the number of downloads they have gotten. Continue reading for our list of some of the best and most talked about games released in 2022.

This list will be updated throughout the year as new games are released so that you can stay up to date with all the exciting games!

Here are some of the best video games released in 2022, listed based on their release date.

Best Video Games of 2022 - 1

Elden Ring (released on the 25th of February, 2022)

Elden Ring is a third-person action role-playing game where combat and exploration are the main game mechanics. It has components reminiscent of those in other FromSoftware games like Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the Dark Souls series. The game is available to play on the Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox series, and Windows.

Each game listed as one of the best in 2022 has a reason why they were selected, but Elden Ring is a unique exception. It became an overnight sensation and somehow managed to live up to the irrational excitement surrounding it from the moment it was released. It’s not unusual for someone to invest more than 100 hours to complete the game.

From its endlessly fascinating, show-don’t-tell approach to storytelling and worldbuilding to the sheer distinctiveness each player can design their character, this vast dark fantasy open world is unique. One of the most enduring instant classics is this.

Tunic (released on the 16th of March)

Game publisher Finji has released Andrew Shouldice’s action-adventure title, Tunic. The game was first released in March 2022 on Windows, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. In September 2022, ports of the game were then made available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Tunic appears to be another independent Zelda clone (albeit one that lets you control a sword-wielding fox instead).

However, the game quickly transforms into an elaborate and unexpected homage to one aspect of classic gaming that you might not even be aware you’ve missed: the user guide. You’ll accumulate digital pages throughout the game that provide pointers on how to advance, and you’ll need them because Tunic seems to have no end to the problems and secrets it can fit in.

The Quarry (released on the 10th of June, 2022)

A 2022 interactive drama/horror video game called The Quarry was created by Supermassive Games and released by 2K. The player controls nine teenage counselors as they battle supernatural beings and hostile campers on their final night at Hackett’s Quarry Summer Camp.

Players’ decisions during the game could have a big impact on the story’s plot, relationships, character development, and resolution. Depending on the player’s choices, any one of the nine playable characters could live or die.

The Quarry, one of many narrative-driven games that came out during the summer, embraces every slasher-movie cliché you can think of. Actors like Justice Smith and Ariel Winter play a group of adolescents at a summer camp who learn they are being hunted by someone or something who wants to kill them one by one. Like any good horror experience, the game is best played with a group of friends because anyone can survive or die, making the player’s choices more important.

Neon White (released on June 16, 2022)

First-person shooter and platforming puzzle game Neon White was created by Angel Matrix and released by Annapurna Interactive. The game was made available on June 16, 2022, for Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.

The goal of Neon White’s speedrun-style gameplay is to have the player take on the role of a Neon, a demon hunter in heaven, and eliminate every demon on a level as quickly as possible. Playing cards are used as weapons in the game and can be tossed to execute unique maneuvers like double-jumping. The author of the game is OK K.O. Ryann Shannon, the author of Let’s Be Heroes.

Neon White is the only game you need if you want to get your heart racing in under a minute. A different game is produced by the same person that created the incredibly cool Donut County. It’s a challenging speedrunning game that emphasizes you to complete stages quickly, shoot down demons, and pull off crazy acrobatic feats. It’s thrilling and mouthwatering.

There you have it! This is just a drop in the ocean of games released this year. There are too many of them, and listing them all might get a little boring. You can read more about other games on the page. Check out the online slots available for you to try as well.
