Conscript Gets Drafted by Team17

Conscript is out to remind us about the horror of war.

Team17 has drafted an interesting indie survival horror by an Australian developer. Due to go into the trenches in 2024, this horror is much more than just a survival shooter. Developer Catchweight Studio drops players into the boots of a lonely French soldier, aught up in WWI. Searching for his lost brother, this wayward conscript must do more than simply check the incoming body bags.

Players who find themselves along the line will be besieged by endless deadly encounters. Enemy soldiers, incoming fire and absolutely punishing mechanics will attempt to see you dead. War isn’t fun and the relentless pace continues as you dive into the madness of war, engage in brutal combat against enemy soldiers, manage limited supplies, and solve complex environmental puzzles.

As our singular hero tries to survive the Battle of Verdun, you’ll get to experience the intense and claustrophobic feel of that period, mixed with a classic slice of survival horror. Whether you shot an enemy, run away, or manage to loot some food, do what you need to survive.

“Catchweight Studio is really just me,” says Jordan Mochi, founder of Catchweight Studio. “So, after six years of development, I’m glad to have backup from the experienced people at Team17. CONSCRIPT emerged from my own love of history and my love of survival horror. I’ve long dreamed of making games and of creating stories for people to play. Over the last six years, I’ve been happy to see a community of players grow around Coscript, and I’m looking forward to working with Team17 to launch the game for the community and players around the world in 2024.”

Conscript, like conflict inspired titles such as This War of Mine and 11:11, isn’t out to glorify this period of history, and will push payers to their limits. Check out more on this historical horror over on the official Steam Store page now.

For those of you who I’ve not met yet, my name is Ed. After an early indoctrination into PC gaming, years adrift on the unwashed internet, running a successful guild, and testing video games, I turned my hand to writing about them. Now, you will find me squawking across a multitude of sites and even getting to play games now and then
