Console Sales Predictions For 2021

Consoles 2021

Many people across the globe invest in stocks or bet on a technological product’s potential within the market – and 2021 is the most promising year for this. With the Playstation 5 and Xbox X Series, both released during November of the previous years, the all-time sales of these products are just at the beginning stage of their lifecycle. For those who are looking to bet on the potential for both of these consoles, or even Nintendo consoles, within the upcoming months – data presented by Find Betting Sites has forecasted console sales predictions you need to fully inform your bets.

Previous Statistics

Betting on console sales is certainly not a new niche within the betting world, with a whole host of options available for those who choose to gamble on technological developments. However, when placing bets on the current state of the gaming console market, it is crucial that you can gauge the previous state of affairs to help your predictions for this season of sales.

After both the Xbox One and Playstation 4 being released in early 2013, both of these consoles have had almost eight years to fully mature in the market, which has revealed some staggering statistics as to how profitable they were during the peak of their product lifespans.

Microsoft has maintained an average sale of 48 million units throughout the Xbox One’s lifespan, which would be an impressive feat if it wasn’t for Sony’s Playstation 4 reaching an average of 113 million sales, which is well over double that which Xbox was able to achieve.

However, interjecting the rivalry between the two industry giants is the Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, which has since seen a growth of over 63 million sales in just over a three-year time span. This has surpassed any of the expectations previously placed on competitor consoles, which likely means that the Nintendo Switch is only set to grow in sales as it reaches a similar level of maturity as the other consoles.

Forecast for 2021

Now that you have a brief insight into the current state of affairs, it is evident that both Sony and Nintendo are vying for the top spot for the highest-grossing console, with Microsoft lagging behind.

However, as we have just entered the new year, panels of experts have created predictions based on how well each console will sell throughout this year. For both Sony and Microsoft, there are more long term predictions, whilst for Nintendo, it is relatively limited in terms of projections surpassing the end of 2021.

An expert has predicted that Xbox will sell an average of 12 million units throughout 2021, with this reaching 42 million by 2024, showing a promising trajectory for growth that may lead the Xbox X Series to surpass the overall sales of the previous model by the time a new console release is introduced.

However, for Sony it has been forecasted that will average 18 million units by the end of 2021, with this climbing up to 64 million by 2024, this emphasizes a similar growth pattern as the previous model which may touch a similar level of sales as the Playstation 4, given that an exponential boost in sales and publicity occurs at some point during this life cycle.

Yet for Nintendo, forecasting is relatively limited, due to the Nintendo Switch not being a new edition console. However, over the previous holiday period, Nintendo witnessed a proportionate incline of sales that reached 12 million, which is an unprecedented value for a company often underestimated as a competitor to the big two. Nintendo has also released that they predict a 33% jump between March 2020 and March 2021’s net profits.
