Pre Orders are now open across Nintendo Switch, PC and PlayStation ahead of the Autumn Corpse Party II launch window.

Marvelous and XSEED are about to kick off another Corpse party. The publishers behind the likes of Cuisineer, Rune Factory, and tons of incredible eastern RPGs have confirmed that the sequel to this cult RPG will come West later in 2024.

Titled Darkness Distortion, the newest batch of horrors follows three high school friends in an unfortunate turn of events after irl streaming goes awry. The trio of protagonists Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi, and Maria Hitsugi will take players on a tour of a spooky old urban legend. Cloaked in the shadows of Amare Est Vivere Hospital the three girls investigate a ghostly tale known as the legend of “Ayame’s Mercy”. Tripping over a decades old curse, a dark realm opens up and the Corpse Party begins.

Following on 3 years after the release of the first in this cult franchise, the second mainline instalment sets up a whole new tale of woe, new characters, and a brand-new aesthetic. A fully 3D environment brings the halls of Amare Est Vivere Hospital into third- and first-person relief, while the establish visual themes of the series continue to unsettle. Six chapters of gruesome events unfold, with danger never far away. While you’ll need to uncover the dark past behind this urban legend, it’s just as essential to get the three girls out alive.

The Corpse party II launch window doesn’t give us a definitive date for the stream to go live quite yet, but we do know that Europe, Australia, and North America will all get an opportunity to try out the new title. Horror fans can grab Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Windows PC via Steam this autumn. A Switch physical standard edition will be available shortly for pre-order at participating retailers for SRP €49.99. Find out more on the official XSEED and Marvelous websites, if you dare.
