Warhammer: Vermintide 2 versus mode is open to all heroes on Steam
Fatshark, the team behind the team focused chaos that is Vermintide, just announced a new way to crush skulls and defeat the Skaven hordes. Vermintide 2 has been testing a PvPvE mode called Versus, and it’s now open to Steam owners of this brawler.
Anybody lucky enough to have seen the end times and fought through the fallout on Steam can get into this new action. As you’d expect, the latest enhancement to the Warhammer series adds an entirely ne element to the usual objectives. While the heroes of Warhammer might still have to wade into the Chaos and push back with visceral force, another group of gamers will enter the fray. Suiting up as 4 player controlled Skaven specials, these new elements turn the traditional game into an intense mix of AI opponents and asymmetrical warfare.
The Versus mode is part of a wider update for the game’s sixth anniversary. This includes a special map for adventure mode, and a new portrait frame for players to kit out their characters. These additional features are due to drop across all platforms.
“For the next test, you will play on a new map, see the addition of premium careers, get kick and mute options, see a match score screen, and Versus specific menu settings,” said Joakim Setterberg, Design Director for Vermintide 2. “We’re also aiming to do the next test directly in the Vermintide game and not on a testing app, and for this reason, we’re adding a title screen, just like for consoles, with shortcuts to Adventure, Chaos Wastes, and Versus.”
If you haven’t had a chance to sharpen your sword in Vermintide 2 then you’re missing a bloody lark. Following on as a sequel to 2015 title, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, this version depicted the ongoing struggles of the Ubersreik Five, amped up the crunchy melee combat, and took the game to new realms of the world.
