Dead Cells Official Release

The Dead Cells official release date has been announced. According to a recent PlayStation blog post by Twin Motion producer Steve Filby, Dead Cells will release August 7th. Already available on GoG and Steam Early Access, the game will release on Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation August 7th.

There’s hardcore and then there’s “break your controller and cry”-core. The game has a reputation for being brutal and unforgiving. Motion Twin describes Dead Cells as a combination of rogue-lite and action-platformer game play they refer to as “Roguevania”. It’s not just players that consider the game hardcore, Motion Twin is plain and clear about the level of challenge on their website,

To beat the game, you’ll have to master 2D “souls-lite combat” with the ever-present threat of permadeath looming. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.

Filby tries to quell player fears while reinforcing that fear with a little good-natured snark and providing a list of tips to help them get started.

Our action-platformer might come off as a little challenging at first, but don’t worry, once you get the basics you’ll be well on your way to the final boss before you inevitably fall to your death.
