Prepare for a very different school experience with two new trailers for term time tactical sim Demonschool

New teasers for upcoming spooky RPG Demonschool dropped recently, giving us a look at the incoming mix of Persona turned Italian horror films. That might sound like an odd mix of ideas, but we’re expecting great things from developers Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd games. The outfit behind the cult indie classic VA-11 HALL-A and the uniquely unsettling World of Horror released a pair of interesting snippets.

Potential students can take a look at the first of these previews from the Guerilla Collective Showcase above. This teaser trails protagonist Faye as she attempts to just get some studying done. Rudely interrupted by a stack of villainous CRT monitors, you’ll watch the encounter begin to play out. Further combat encounters are details in the IGN Summer Fest trailer, below. This particular fight sets up a circular arena full of barbed tongues. Maybe an analogy for schoolyard gossip? Who knows.

For those of you who are just getting an introduction to this tale might be getting Buffy vibes, and that’s exactly what we’d expect. In among the gorgeous anime inspired animation, tactical RPG combat, and high school drama there’s a kid trying to grow up. Demonschool sends players to high school as Faye. The last heir to a demon hunting family, she was never going to have a quiet life. Suddenly all hell breaks loose and it’s time to strategize. You’ll survive the semester by arranging study sessions, building up classmate’s skillsets, fitting in after school combat training, taking on side quests. A total of 15 characters are there to support you in your unusual high school experience. So, don’t forget the chaem homework and check out more on DemonSchool before it arrives on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck later in 2023.
